Jacob and I met on a dating app called Hinge. Jacob was quick to ask me out on a date and I agreed to meet for drinks at a local spot called “Better Luck Tomorrow” in Houston, Texas. We shared conversation and banter over Irish Coffees and both had a nice time in the others company. Jacob thought the date was too good to be true and at the end of the night could only muster up giving me an awkward side hug. I had to watch him fast walk- almost run back to his car. He was nervous, but I thought he just wasn’t into me.
Much to my surprise, he got the courage and texted me the next day to follow up for another date. We quickly realized we had such common interests in rock climbing, hiking and a general desire for exploring nature we started taking weekend adventures together around Texas… which is the best way to get to know someone. We learned how easy it was for us to communicate and work together to set up a camping tent and how we couldn’t get enough time together around the campfire at the end of the night.
On the way back from our very first roadtrip we saw how the other keeps a level head and stays calm when we run out of gas in the middle of nowhere off I-10. As irresponsible as running out of gas sounds, the shared experience really solidified that we would be life long adventure buddies
As the bride, my favorite moment from our small intimate wedding out at Palo Duro Canyon was right before walking down the aisle with my father, seeing Jacob at the other end and all of our family and friends in between us. It was overwhelming in the most wonderful sense of having so much love and support there with us. As the groom- Jacobs favorite memory was sharing our personal vows together off the cliffside.
We hired Texas Adventure Elopements to photograph our wedding. Brit has a very “come as you are” way about her personality that made Jacob and I feel at ease from the moment we met her. We are super playful in nature and Brit very much encouraged that in us and we felt we could wholly be ourselves around her. She somehow, *I’m not convinced she’s not some sort of wizard* captures the rawest of emotions and elements of love.
